Christiaan Pauw

Since 1998, Christiaan Pauw has been involved in research and implementation of projects aimed at improving the quality of life of low-income households in Southern Africa. His career over more than two decades includes quantitative and qualitative research, as well as participation in project planning, management, implementation and monitoring. Notable is his original work in greenhouse gas- and air quality offsets. In 2006 and 2007 he was instrumental in the development of a methodology to verify greenhouse gas emission reductions from the implementation of an alternative top-down ignition technique for domestic coal fires against the WBCSD/WRI GHG Project Protocol and later against the Gold Standard. He played a pivotal role in the development of the monitoring and evaluation system for Nova’s Gold Standard VERs and poineered monitoring and evaluation systems for numerous air quality offset programmes in South Africa. He has a particular interst in the development of cryptographic tokens representing real communnal benefits.
